Fifth Kalma: Astaghfar (Kalima-e-Astaghfar) – The Prayer of Seeking Forgiveness

The Fifth Kalma, known as Kalima-e-Astaghfar, is a powerful supplication for seeking forgiveness from Allah. It is a declaration of repentance, acknowledging one’s mistakes and asking for Allah’s mercy. This Kalma teaches Muslims the importance of humility, self-reflection, and turning to Allah for pardon.

Translation in English:

"I seek forgiveness from Allah, my Lord, for all my sins which I have committed knowingly or unknowingly, secretly or openly, and I turn to Him in repentance for the sins that I know and the sins that I do not know. Indeed, You (O Allah) are the Knower of the unseen, the Concealer of faults, and the Forgiver of sins. And there is no power and no strength except with Allah, the Most High, the Most Great."

Significance of Kalima-e-Astaghfar:

  • Seeking Allah’s Mercy – A sincere plea for forgiveness.
  • Repentance and Reflection – Acknowledging mistakes and turning towards righteousness.
  • Purification of the Soul – Cleansing one’s heart and mind from past sins.
  • Strength in Faith – Accepting that only Allah has the power to forgive and guide.

Muslims recite this Kalma regularly to purify their hearts, seek Allah’s forgiveness, and remain on the path of righteousness. It is a reminder that Allah is All-Forgiving and Merciful, always ready to accept those who sincerely repent.
